Michigan Reading Tour Announced

Not all poems are meant to be read aloud, but my book News of Need in particular contains many longer format poems with characters and stories that lend themselves to performance. I’ve been sharing videos on social media as I try to figure out how all these tools work to help me connect readers and listeners with my writing.

But there is nothing like a live event. I’m excited to announce a mini reading tour in Michigan this year with dates and venues listed below — and more to come. All events are ‘come as you are’, free of admission, and will have a book sale and signing afterward. I plan to really bring the writing to life, whether it’s on stage for 50 people or in a close circle of 5 people. It means everything to connect with people over the works that I’ve spent years crafting. Save the date, and come out if you can for a reading.

August 7 — 5:30pm, Traverse City, Crooked Tree Art Center

August 21 — 7pm, Kalamazoo Dormouse Theatre

September 11 — 7:30pm, Beaver Island District Library

September 26 — 5pm, Frankfort, Oliver Art Center

October 11 — 4pm, Ludington, The Book Mark

October 25 — Time TBA, Rochester, Paint Creek Center for the Arts

In the meantime, people have also been discovering the audiobook for sale and MP3 download in my bookstore. A large part of my life is spent with earbuds in playing podcasts, audiobooks, or music, so it’s exciting to think that people can connect with my work that way. I will eventually participate in streaming if it’s affordable, but for now will keep launching audiobooks on the website. News of Need is in the editing phase and will be released soon.

Thanks for reading and listening.
